Beef Calzone

Combine savory roast beef and cheese to create a Beef Calzone for an easy lunch or dinner.

 

Ingredients

  • 15 slices of Bistro Favorites Natural Roasted Beef
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine all the dry together.
  2. Combine water, yeast, and olive oil together.
  3. Add wet to dry and form into a dough.
  4. Let sit in a warm place for 20-30 minutes. (Or double in size...longer will produce a better, more flavorful dough.)
  5. Roll one portion of the pizza dough out to about 10 inches in diameter.
  6. Down one half of the dough shingle the sliced beef and top with the mozzarella. (Note: Leave 1 inch around the edge.)
  7. Brush the edges with egg. (Beat first)
  8. Fold dough over the meat so that the dough's edges meet.
  9. Crimp dough edges.
  10. Brush the top of the dough with egg, cut a slit to create a vent, and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.
  11. Bake at 350°F until golden brown. (About 15 minutes)
